Focusing on utilization of streaming and networked audio for musical performance and interactivity.
Vindicia, Inc. (1/04 7/04)
Implemented a scalable OpenLDAP-based authorization system to control internal and
external access to Vindicia's servers. LDAP database was synchronized with a central
Postgres database (utilizing Perl modules) and used database replication to
synchronize between the master authorization server and individual LDAP servers
running on workstations, web servers, and database servers.
Designed an automated system that parsed daily data feeds from clients, analyzed them,
and converted them to human-readable formats.
Sole technical lead and systems administrator for The Betty Mills Company.
Responsibilities included: Back and front-end development of retail website,
maintenance and backup of Linux-based production webserver, development of
MySQL database, internal system administration of 10 Win2000 workstations,
a file server, and a Linux workstation.
Designed and implemented User concept for BettyMills website. Original software
package lacked ability to create or track users. Designed OO-based Perl
libraries and CGIs to allow users to sign up, login, and view previous
orders and invoices.
Imported and loaded large catalog data feeds from various vendors.
Shoehorned data feeds to fit back-end data model.
Designed and wrote new database-driven features for the live site, as
well as back-end administrative features to streamline customer service,
sales, and accounting.
Wrote and integrated OO Perl applications using the Perl Mason library. Mason
objects combine HTML and Perl to create highly efficient server-side scripts
and dynamic pages.
Administrated sites for numerous clients, primarily using the Verio Virtual Private
Server platform. Responsibilities included: log backups, generating statistics,
troubleshooting, server migration.
Designed, specified, and wrote software for the Zack Proxy Platform, a means by which
ISPs could create value for their users and generate revenue. Placed in an ISP's network,
the Zack Proxy could deliver enhanced services to users without requiring any client-side
software. Services included virus scanning, content filtering, shared browsing, and
navigation tools.
Application development Project Manager for Zack's key Enhanced Services Server.
Created database driven front and back-end applications and libraries for the Zack Proxy
Platform utilizing OO Perl, CGI, MySQL, Javascript and HTML.
Designed, specified, and wrote a shared browsing and chat application, allowing multiple
users to enter a single chat room and browse the web via a linked browsing mechanism. User
session status was monitored on a per-request basis and content inserted into appropriate
requests. CGIs and Javascript were used to drive the UI and manage database interactions.
Designed and developed a browsing-context-sensitive product review application incorporating
third party data feeds. Designed database tables to optimize search functionality and wrote
data accessing and retrieval subroutines to provide best-match keyword searches. UI driven
by CGIs, Perl modules, and Javascript.
Concentration in audio for the Web and sound synthesis programming
Master's Thesis was an online sonic installation, 'bits & pieces,' that searches the Web for sound files, downloads and processes them, and streams the results back over the Web via mp3
Electronic music performed at major festivals.
